WNT Mar 30, 2010
Just nine players trained this morning in San Diego (those who didn't play or who played 45 or less minutes against Mexico on Sunday), before the team took at 3:30 p.m. flight to Salt Lake City. The U.S. players enjoyed an boisterous greeting at the airport from a group of young players from the Utah Rush, which was fun for both the USA and the youngsters. Kudos to the Rush players for some excellent signs as well as some quality face-painting. The U.S. team signed autographs and posed for pictures before hopping on the bus to the team hotel. The U.S. players have heard that it might snow on Wednesday (that's right, snow during a WNT game), but we'll have to wait and see what the weather brings. If it does snow, it will be the first time we can remember that it has snowed during a WNT game. Sure the team has played in some cold weather climates before, and one time in Fresno in 1998 it snowed before the game, but this could be a first. When the team arrived in SLC, the snow covered mountains certainly were in stark contrast to the warm temperatures and beach weather the squad left in San Diego. Here are a few pics from the team's greeting at the airport. Well done, Utah.
