As if we needed one more example of how cruel a game this is, case in point, the USA-Canada match tonight. The U.S. team certainly didn't play its best game, but the Americans created enough chances to win, only to fail to find the net against a tough Canadian defense and an excellent goalkeeper. While Canada didn't get near the U.S. goal but a few times in the last 75 minutes, neither could the Americans muster a score, and in the wild, wacky world of penalty kicks, anything can happen. While a very sad group of U.S. players will likely go to bed with teary eyes tonight, there is one more match left as the USA will face Costa Rica for third-place this Saturday. One more training in Costa Rica, one more game against Costa Rica, and then the young U.S. players will return home with some valuable lessons learned about the small margin between winning and losing at the highest levels.
