The first match day of the Algarve Cup is in the books and there was one big upset with Iceland defeating Sweden, 2-1, in Group B. In the other Group A match, Norway downed Finland, 2-1, which means they are tied atop the group with the USA, setting up a huge clash on Friday with the winner taking a big leg up towards making the championship game. In the other Group B match, Denmark scored one of the quickest goals in Algarve Cup history and then made it stand up for the 1-0 victory over China. In Group C, Romania notched a 2-0 win over Chile and Portugal started its tournament the right way with a 3-1 victory over Wales. Tomorrow will be an important recovery day for all the teams as one day of rest is pretty short.
