When discussing the challenges of qualifying in CONCACAF earlier this week, U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann said this sbout some of the USA's opponents: "You have to explain to people that even if you are on paper the big favorite, for your opponent the game against the United States is the game of the year, and maybe the game of the decade."
Sound like hyperbole? Then don't take his word for it. This from commentators on ABS radio show Good Morning JoJo in Antigua this morning:
"This is the biggest sporting event in the country's history along with the Cricket World Cup. For the Antigua team, this is the game of their lives. People should understand that the chance to play against the United States at home in such a big match is an opportunity that countries all over the world would love to have. It's a once-in-a-lifetime game, and the Antigua team should be ready for it."
Word is that the 10,000 seat Sir Vivian Richards Stadium is sold out, which represents one eighth of the population of the island.
