WNT Sep 30, 2009
Ok, they are not exactly going home, but when do you get the chance to use alliteration with four "h"s? Not often, so we had to take it. Young players Ashlyn Harris and Tobin Heath left the U.S. hotel this morning at 5:30 a.m. (ouch) to catch a flight to Boston where they will join the UNC Tar Heels for a match against Boston College tomorrow. Second-ranked UNC (9-0-1) won it's two matches last weekend without the duo, defeating Duke and Wake Forest, but sixth-ranked BC (9-1-0) and Virginia Tech (on Sunday) will get a full dose of H&H. BC features numerous youth national team players, including Vicki DiMartino, who scored five goals for the USA at the 2008 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in New Zealand, and Kristie Mewis, who was the 2008 U.S. Soccer Young Female Athlete of the Year after a performance that earned her the Bronze Ball as the third-best player in the U-17 WWC. It should be a great ACC clash. Keep a lookout later this week for a special ussoccer.com feature on Harris, who attended her first-ever WNT training camp this past week and a half.
