At the 2010 Nike International Friendlies, the U.S. Under-17 MNT took on Korea Republic, Brazil and Turkey in Phoenix, Ariz. With the 2011 edition set to kick off this afternoon, ussoccer.com looks back on last year's tournament.
Brazil and Turkey opened the competition last year, with both teams earning a point in the scoreless tie. The U.S. and Korea also faced off on Matchday 1, the USA beating Korea 2-1 to emerge group leaders on the first day.
On Matchday 2, Turkey won against Korea by the same 2-1 score as the U.S., while the U.S. stayed first place after a scorless draw with Brazil, the South American's second consecutive match without scoring or conceding a goal.
Brazil finally earned a victory on Matchday 3, beating Korea 3-2. The U.S. fell to Turkey 2-0 and finished third in the compeition. Brazil finished second, and Turkey was crowned champions in the first time that the Friendlies was played as a tournament.
Brazil and Turkey both return to the competition this year, with the two teams opening the 2011 Nike International Friendlies at 2 p.m. ET this afternoon.
