USA representative Weston FC’s U-13/14 Development Academy team finished off the 2014 Manchester United Premier Cup with a pair of 1-0 losses on Friday, Aug. 8.
Weston started the day with a one-goal defeat to Waitakere City FC of New Zealand and then took on the tournament’s host side in the finale. However, the Florida-based club was once again kept off the score sheet and fell 1-0 to Manchester United, wrapping up the event in 16th place out of 20 teams.
Overall, Weston went 1-5-0 in the tournament, with the lone victory coming on the tournament’s first day on Aug. 6 against Thailand’s AC Thonburi. That highlight included Christian Koat’s first-half brace. Koat scored three of Weston’s four goals during the event. Weston’s Nico Garcia-Murillo tallying the other score during a 3-2 loss to Hertha BSC Berlin, which would end up taking third place.
Now Weston FC and the other Academy clubs look forward to the U-13/14 age group’s second season, which starts in September. Weston FC opens its U-13/14 slate on Sept. 6 against Orlando City.
