Olympic Qualifying Match to be Second Game of ESPN2 Double-Header That Begins with U.S. MNT World Cup Qualifier vs. Guatemala

CHICAGO (Feb.2, 2016) – As part of its two-game home-and-away playoff for a spot in the 2016 Olympic Games, the U.S. Under-23 Men’s National Team will host Colombia on Tuesday, March 29 at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.

The match, which will be the return leg of the two-game Olympic Qualifying series, will kick off at 8:30 p.m. CT and be broadcast live on ESPN2, following the U.S. MNT’s World Cup Qualifying match against Guatemala at 6 p.m. CT. The first match of the Olympic Qualifying playoff will take place on Friday, March 25 in Barranquilla, Colombia, at 3:30 p.m. CT.

Tickets for the deciding game go on sale to the public on Friday, Feb. 5, at 10 a.m. CT at ussoccer.com and by phone at (855) 492-8053.

Last October, the USA won its three first-round games in the CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship before falling in the semifinals to Honduras. The U-23’s bounced back and won the third-place match against Canada to earn a place in the March playoff. Colombia finished second in the 2015 South American Youth Championship to claim its spot in the playoff.

The U.S. Men hope to return to the Olympics for the first time since Beijing 2008, when they posted a 1-1-1 record but did not advance from a group that included Gold medalist Nigeria. The USA’s best showing in the Olympics came during the 2000 Games in Sydney, when the team defeated Japan in the quarterfinals and finished fourth in the Men’s Soccer event.
