CHULA VISTA, Calif. (April 26, 2016) – The U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team defeated Club Tijuana’s U-20/U-18 team during its training camp at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista.
After neither team tallied in the first half, Xolos subbed in an entirely different team to try to use fresh legs to down the USA. However, in the 53rd minute, U.S. midfielder Nick Taitague converted a penalty kick to take the lead.
Shortly after, Xolos’ Luis Gamiz equalized, proving the new squad was much more a threat in the second half. But with three minutes left in the match, Brandon Servania captured the lead for the U.S. thanks to an assist from Shaft Brewer Jr., finishing the game with a 2-1 victory.
Before camp ends, the U.S. will face San Diego Nomads on April 29 at 10:30 a.m. PT.
