CHICAGO (Aug. 5, 2018) – Goalkeeper Hillary Beall has been ruled out of the 2018 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup due to a leg injury suffered during training at the USA’s pre-tournament camp in France. The USA opens its World Cup on Aug. 6 vs. Japan.
Angelina Anderson will replace Beall on the World Cup roster. The 17-year-old has been one of the main goalkeepers for the U-17 WNT this cycle. She helped lead the USA to the Concacaf Women’s U-17 Championship last June, starting four of five games during the team’s undefeated run at the tournament and taking home the Golden Glove as the event’s best ‘keeper.
The 5-foot-11 Anderson has 12 U-17 caps but has not yet been capped at the U-20 level. Beall, who plays at the University of Michigan, was also uncapped.
