CHICAGO (March 3, 2019)—The U.S. Para-7-a-Side National Team will hold its second training camp of 2019 at the Elite Athlete Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. from March 3-8. PNT head coach Stuart Sharp has called in 17 players for the camp.

The team kicked off 2019 with a domestic training camp in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. It’s set to be a busy year for the PNT, as the USA will compete in two major international competitions- July’s IFCPF World Cup in Sevilla, Spain and August’s ParaPan American Games in Lima, Peru.

U.S. Para 7-a-Side National Team Roster by Position:
GOALKEEPERS (4): Carter Alvey (Clemson, S.C.), Sean Boyle (Minneapolis, Minn.), Marc Estrella (Bakersfield, Calif.), Brenden Johnson (San Antonio, Texas)
DEFENDERS (5): Andrew Bremer (Clemson, S.C.), Joshua Brunais (Stafford, Va.), Jacob Crumbley (Fortson, Ga.), Jacob Kaplan (Morganville, N.J.), Michael Ruiz (Gilroy, Calif.)
MIDFIELDERS (5): Tyler Bennett (Clemson, S.C.), Steven Bohlemann (Weston, Fla.), Samuel Holmes (Des Moines, Iowa), Gavin Kohner (Peoria, Ariz.), Jordan Weise (Valdosta, Ga.)

Twelve players return from the PNT’s January camp roster, while five players make their 2019 debuts with the team, including 2017 U.S. Soccer Disabled Player of the Year Sean Boyle. Goalkeeper Carter Alvey, defender Jacob Kaplan, midfielder Seven Bohlemann and forward Cameron DeLillo also make their first PNT appearances of the year.

Nine players were a part of the PNT’s last major international competition, the 2018 IFCPF Copa America in Quito, Ecuador. The team finished third overall, falling to world No. 2 Brazil in the semifinal before rallying to defeat Colombia 3-0 in the third-place game.

A little more than a year after Sharp held the team’s first-ever Development and Identification Camp for younger PNT prospects age 13-23, five of those players will be in camp in Chula Vista as the team prepares for its summer competitions.
