Futsal MNT Looks to Qualify for Second Straight FIFA Futsal World Cup in April

CHICAGO (Dec. 14, 2023) - The U.S. Men’s Futsal National Team will face Trinidad and Tobago, Dominican Republic and Guatemala in Group C at the upcoming 2024 Concacaf Futsal Championship, which will take place April 13-20 at Polideportivo Alexis Arguello in Managua, Nicaragua. The four teams that advance to the tournament semifinals will qualify for the 2024 FIFA Futsal World Cup to be held Sept. 14-Oct. 6 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

“It's a strong group, but when you prepare for competitions like this, you have to prepare in a way that you are ready to play against anybody,” U.S. Men’s Futsal National Team head coach Hewerton Moreira. “There’s been a little bit of change in personnel since the last cycle when we finished as runner-up in Concacaf and qualified for the World Cup. I've tried to infuse some players with the profile that I believe will be a good fit and create a strong system in order for us to play well and gel together on the court. We're going to be strong for Concacaf and the goal is to qualify for the World Cup. We will prepare ourselves to battle and move forward.”

Following a runner-up finish at the 2021 Concacaf Championship which clinched a berth at the 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Lithuania, the U.S. Men’s Futsal National Team will look to qualify for consecutive tournaments for the first time since 2008. The USA is making its seventh appearance at the Concacaf Futsal Championship and will look to earn its first confederation title since 2004.
