CHICAGO (March 13, 2025) – U.S. Soccer today announced the opening two rounds of the 2025 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup will air exclusively via its YouTube channel at youtube.com/ussoccer, beginning with next week’s First Round matches.

The 110th edition U.S. Soccer’s men’s club national championship kicks off next week with a compelling 32-game slate pitting amateur clubs against professional sides on March 18, 19 and 20. The winners of those affairs will then be paired to comprise the Second Round’s 16 fixtures, to be contested from April 1-2.

U.S. Soccer’s YouTube home is where fans will find live streams for tilts in the coming weeks, in addition to match highlights and more Cup-centric content. Fans can access direct links to all First Round games via the U.S. Open Cup playlist section within the YouTube channel.

Broadcast details for later rounds will be announced in the near future.

The First Round’s 64 participants will consist of 32 amateur clubs from the Open Division facing 32 professional teams from Divisions II & III. The Open Division representatives include 14 Qualifying Round winners, nine USL League Two teams, seven NPSL teams, the USASA National Amateur Cup champion and the UPSL Spring Champion. Division III representatives include 14 USL League One teams and ten MLS Next Pro clubs, who will be joined in the First Round by eight of the 24 participating teams from Division II’s USL Championship.

About the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup

Now in its 110th edition, the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup – U.S. Soccer's Club Championship – has crowned a champion since 1914 in every year except 2020 and 2021. The history-filled tournament is conducted on a single-game-knockout basis and open to all professional and amateur teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer. In 1999, the oldest ongoing national soccer competition in the United States was renamed to honor American soccer pioneer Lamar Hunt.

This year’s U.S. Open Cup winner will earn a berth in the Concacaf Champions Cup and have its name engraved on the Dewar Challenge Trophy – one of the oldest nationally-contested trophies in American team sports – now on permanent display at the National Soccer Hall of Fame in Frisco, Texas.

LAFC is the reigning tournament champion, the MLS side earning its first Open Cup title courtesy of a spirited 3-1 extra time victory over Sporting Kansas City on Sept. 25, 2024, contested before a capacity crowd of 22,214 at BMO Stadium in downtown Los Angeles.
