Referee of the Week: Florian deVries
Hometown: Chesterfield, VA
USSF Grade: 6

Florian deVries has been selected as the Development Academy Referee of the Week for a noteworthy performance on Saturday, Oct. 3, in a U-17/18 match between South Conference opponents McLean Youth Soccer and Kendall SC.

Originally from Voorburg, Netherlands deVries has been officiating since 2003 in the D.C./Virginia State Association. He’s been refereeing Development Academy matches for more than one year and has also gained experience in PDL, USSF D-2, W-League matches. In addition to his success on the pitch, deVries is celebrating another recent accomplishment—acquiring his American citizenship this past September.

In response to this recognition for his work, deVries writes “Thank you to everyone that has helped me become the referee and the man that I am today.”
