U.S. U-17 MNT Wraps Up 2011 AGS Cup with Win against Spanish Team
The U.S. Under-17 National Team finished in second place at the 2011 AGS Cup with a 5-0 win against a regional team from Spain.

L’ALFAS DEL PI, Spain (Oct. 20, 2011) – The U.S. Under-17 National Team finished in second place at the 2011 AGS Cup with a 5-0 win against a regional team from Spain.
Wesley Wade scored two of the teams five goals to earn the tournament’s Golden Boot with four total tallies during the tournament. Also scoring against the Spanish regional team were Angel Heredia (San Jose Earthquakes), Conor Donovan and Rubio Rubin.
The U.S. closed out the tournament with two victories and two ties. Head coach Wilmer Cabrera’s squad started off the tournament with a 1-1 tie against Mexico with a goal from Chris Lema (New York Red Bulls) before playing the United Arab Emirates to the same scoreline, courtesy of an Herber Mejia-Flores (McLean Youth Soccer) goal. In its next game, the team defeated Russia 2-0 with two goals from New York Red Bulls Academy’s Wade.
It was the first international trip for the new cycle of U.S. U-17 players in the U.S. Soccer U-17 Residency Program.
