U.S. U-20 MNT Falls 2-1 to Panama in Second International Friendly
Jose Villarreal converted a game-tying penalty kick, but the U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team fell to Panama 2-1 in the teams’ second international friendly match in three days.

PUEBLA, Mexico (Jan. 21, 2013) – Jose Villarreal converted a game-tying penalty kick, but the U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team fell to Panama 2-1 in the teams’ second international friendly match in three days.
The U.S. and Panama played to a 2-2 draw on Jan. 19 in the previous closed-door match.
After both teams played a scoreless first half, Panama scored a goal in the 63rd minute. Shortly after, Villarreal was taken down by Panama’s goalkeeper on a fast break, just inside the box. Villarreal converted the PK in the 66th minute to tie the score at 1-1.
However, the U.S. could not hold on for a stalemate as Panama scored the winning goal in the 79th minute as Panama converted on both of its shots on goal.
The U.S. had a 3-2 shots on goal advantage while Panama out-shot the USA overall 10-9.
The U-20 MNT is preparing for the 2013 CONCACAF U-20 Championship, which takes place from Feb. 18-March 3 in Puebla.
