CHICAGO (Saturday, May 15, 1999) - U.S. forward Mia Hamm is just two well-placed shots away from soccer immortality as she continues to chase the world record for international goals scored. Hamm has scored 106 goals in her international career and trails only Italian legend Elisabetta Vignotto, who scored 107 times in a storied career than spanned from the 1970s into the mid-1980s.

She will get her chance tomorrow as the NIKE Road to Pasadena tour continues with the USA taking on Holland at Soldier Field in Chicago in a match broadcast live on espn2 at 1 p.m. CT/2 p.m. ET.

Hamm was the youngest person ever to play for the U.S. National Team when she debuted for the USA in 1987 at the age of 15 Years, 140 days. Since then, she has compiled amazing scoring statistics while leaving a vast array of defenders and goalkeepers in her wake, as she treated fans in the United States and around the world to her slashing and dynamic attacking style.

Hamm did not score her first international goal until her 17th international match, but since then, has scored in 13 countries against 25 different national teams. The USA has compiled a record of 62-2-2 in matches in which Hamm has scored.
