Kljestan has staked his claim to be a part of Bob Bradley’s team going forward, the midfielder displaying range and versatility while appearing in six FIFA World Cup qualifiers in 2008. The U.S. Soccer Young Male Athlete of the Year for 2008, his ability to operate anywhere in the midfield make him an enticing option, and he tallied his first points in World Cup qualifying during his double-assist effort against Cuba at RFK Stadium in October. Kljestan was also part of the 2008 Olympic team, playing all three games in Beijing and finishing as the team’s leading scorer with two goals.
