CUB vs USA Official Quote Sheet

CONCACAF Gold Cup 2005 Game #4
Cuba  vs. United States
(July-7-2005) – (19:30 pm ET) – (Qwest Field – Seattle, Washington)

UNITED STATES HEAD COACH BRUCE ARENA

On tonight's game

"I’m certainly happy with the win. I think the Cubans did quite well. They played well defensively and the early goal put us in a difficult position. The goal right before halftime was a big goal for us. We felt over 90 minutes that they would fatigue and we would create some chances."

"Having the opportunity to give some players their first international experience was good for us and at the same time it was a great test because Cuba played quite well.”

UNITED STATES FORWARD LANDON DONOVAN

On tonight's game

“The crowd was good for a Thursday night, very impressive, I love Seattle.”

“I’m generally a player who usually starts, and you have to learn how to come into games.  You have to be ready, so your preparation has to be better, and I think I have gotten better with that over the years, so I’m proud of that.”

“The first goal Sanneh gave me a great ball, I got fouled, and then its just one of those things that I wanted to take the free kick.  I wanted to hit it.  The second one Santino played quickly for the goal, and the third one they kind of broke down.”

“We are expected to win the games, for me personally, I had to make a difference when I got on the field.”
