CHICAGO (August 13, 2007) – The U.S. Women’s National Team’s first match following the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup will be played at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, Mo., on Saturday, October 13 at 7 p.m. CT vs. Mexico

The game will feature the U.S. Women’s World Cup team, which includes St. Louis native Lori Chalupny. The U.S. kicks off the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup on Sept. 11 vs. North Korea in Chengdu, China, and the tournament concludes with the final in Shanghai on Sept. 30.

Tickets starting at $20 go on sale to the general public this Friday, August 17, at 10 a.m. CT through ussoccer.com, by phone at 314-421-4400, and at all St. Louis-area Ticketmaster ticket centers (including Schnucks and Macy's). Additionally, as a special benefit to VISA cardholders, a VISA-only pre-sale will be held between 10 a.m. and 11 p.m. CT on Thursday, August 16, at ussoccer.com. VISA, the preferred payment card of U.S. Soccer, is the only payment method accepted for this advance sale opportunity.

The game marks only the third-ever appearance for the U.S. Women in St. Louis, and the first since a 1-1 tie with Germany on June 25, 1998 at St. Louis Soccer Park. The team’s only other appearance in the Gateway City came two years earlier in a 4-1 victory vs. France at the same venue. The U.S. will be playing its 20th match vs. Mexico, and has not lost while only conceding six goals in the previous 19 meetings.

Chalupny, a Nerinx Hall graduate, honed her soccer skills with St. Louis’ JB Marine Soccer Club for eight years before going on to have an All-American career with the storied women’s soccer team at the University of North Carolina. At the international level, Chalupny came onto the scene with the U.S. U-16 Girls’ National Team in 2000 and two years later was a key member of the team that won 2002 FIFA Under-19 Women’s World Cup. She appeared for the full national team for the first time in 2001 at age 17. Chalupny has since become a regular on the team and last month was named to the U.S. roster for the Women’s World Cup.

The U.S. Women’s World Cup roster also includes ‘Queen of Caps’ Kristine Lilly, who has made 330 appearances and scored 125 goals (second all time to Mia Hamm) and will making her fifth appearance in the Women’s World Cup as the team’s captain. Also on the roster is Abby Wambach, who has scored 77 goals, good for fifth all time in U.S. history.

The U.S. is unbeaten since head coach Greg Ryan took over the team in March of 2005 with a 38-0-7 record and the only blemish coming when the U.S. fell in penalty kicks to Germany in the 2006 Algarve Cup Final. This year the team has a 12-0-2 record with one game remaining in the Women’s World Cup Send-Off Series vs. Finland on Aug. 25 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
