CARSON, Calif. (Sept. 30, 2006) – Four different players scored as the U.S. Under-16 Girls’ National Team closed out their final game at the 2006 Women’s Nike National Team Friendlies by shutting out U-18 Real Colorado.

Forward Lauren Alwine scored in the third minute as the U.S. immediately showed to be the better team in a match that saw the U.S. hold a 13-2 advantage in shots. Tiffany McCarty set up the goal after bringing down a high pass deep on the right side of the penalty area. She turned on her defender and dribbled in toward goal before laying the ball off to Alwine who roofed her shot from 12 yards.

McCarty would also score the second goal in the 16th minute after a low cross evaded two defenders and found her in alone vs. the goalkeeper. The goalkeeper came out to challenge, but McCarty was able to dribble through her hands before tapping the ball into the back of the net.

In the second half, defender Amanda Fancher drove a 23-yard free kick into the upper right corner to make the score 3-0 in the 56th minute, and forward Allie Vernon headed home the final goal seven minutes before the final whistle.
