CARSON, Calif. (Oct. 1, 2006) – Two goals from Danielle Foxhoven paced the U.S. U-17 Girls' National Team to an emphatic 5-0 victory against the Dallas Texans at The Home Depot Center on Sunday, closing out the inaugural Women’s Nike Friendlies with a victory that left the team undefeated over three matches.

The U.S. dominated possession for most of the match, outshooting the Texans 21-6. Texans goalkeeper Courtney Seelhorst made several fine saves in the first half to keep Dallas in the hunt, but a goal from Melissa Henderson in the 26th minute spelled the beginning of an impressive performance from the U.S. attack. Henderson took a well-slotted pass from Julie Lancos into the area and fired to the far corner to record the only goal of the first stanza.

The U.S. continued to apply pressure from the outset of the second half, and a tiring Texans defense broke down twice in a two-minute span. In the 71st minute, Foxhoven got on the end of a cross and headed home from eight yards, then found herself alone 10 yards out less than a minute and made no mistake, burying a shot in the lower left corner for her fourth goal of the tournament. It was the second two-goal game for Foxhoven at the 2006 Women’s Nike Friendlies.

Dallas would grab one back in the 79th minute when Lindsey Johnson re-directed a free kick from Rachel Shipley, but goals from Lindsay Taylor and Merritt Mathias would increase the U-17’s total to five in the match and 11 in the tournament overall.

The U.S. U-17 GNT won all three of its games at the 2006 Women’s Nike Friendlies with a combined goal differential of 11-2.
