U.S. Men Enjoy Stellar Day in English Premier League Action
CHICAGO (Dec. 30, 2006) - In an interesting day across the pond, three U.S. Men's National Team players provided the heroics for their English Premier League clubs on Saturday afternoon.

The most surprising result on Saturday came courtesy of defender Carlos Bocanegra. In the 84th minute, Bocanegra followed up a shot by MNT and Fulham teammate Brian McBride, pouncing on the loose ball in the box and burying it home to give the middle-of-the-pack club a stunning 2-2 draw with second-place Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

DaMarcus Beasley came on in the 65th minute for Manchester City and gave the Blues a much-needed 1-0 victory over West Ham United when he scored with seven minutes remaining. Beasley collected the ball and split two defenders on the dribble, outpacing them towards goal before blasting his shot past Robert Green. Claudio Reyna did not suit up for City, but Jonathan Spector played the full 90 minutes in defense for West Ham.

Goalkeeper Tim Howard earned his accolades by coming up with a huge save against James Milner in the 54th minute to keep a 1-0 lead over visiting Newcastle. Howard eventually finished the day with a shutout as his Everton teammates tallied twice more for a 3-0 win.
