U.S. U-17 WNT Heads To Sunrise, Florida For Training Camp

CHICAGO (April 7, 2008) - The U.S. Under-17 Women’s National Team will once again set up training camp in Sunrise, Florida, this time from April 10-16, as head coach Kazbek Tambi has called in 24 players for a week of training that includes a match in Sunrise against the University of Miami on Tuesday, April 15 at 4 p.m. ET.

This camp will feature just a little bit more focus, though, as the U.S. U-17s finally know their dates and destination for CONCACAF qualifying for the 2008 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, the first-ever world championship for this age group. The CONCACAF U-17 Women’s Championship will be played from July 17-26 in Trinidad & Tobago with the top three teams advancing to the World Cup in New Zealand, to be held from Oct. 30-Nov. 16, 2008. The group stages will be played at Dwight Yorke Stadium in Tobago and at Marvin Lee Stadium in Tunapuna. The semifinals and finals will be played at Marvin Lee Stadium.
