Shea Brace Leads to 4-0 Win for U.S. U-20 MNT at Milk Cup in Northern Ireland
  • U.S. Next Faces Belgium in Third Place Match on Friday.
  • BALLYMONEY, Northern Ireland (July 30, 3008) -- The U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team picked up a 4-0 win over Wales at the Milk Cup in Northern Ireland behind a brace from FC Dallas midfielder Brek Shea.

The game was scoreless until the 38th minute, when Ike Opara sent a direct ball out of the back up to New England Revolution midfielder Brandon Manzonelli. Manzonelli brought the ball down into the path of Shea, who took a shot from outside the box that sailed past the Welsh 'keeper.

Ten minutes into the second half, Shea doubled the U.S. lead. He ran onto a through ball from Casey Townsend and hit the ball in stride, blasting it tin o the near post.

Late in the game the U.S. was pressuring, and Peri Marosevic took advantage of a loose ball in the box, hitting it in from close range. Just two minutes later, there was more confusion in front of the Welsh net and this time Danny Cruz was there to put it away and round out the scoring just two minutes from full time.

The U.S. next takes the field against Belgium on Friday in the Third Place match of the tournament. The game will be played at 1:00 p.m. locally (7:00 a.m. ET).
