U.S. National Teams: One of four players on the WC roster that were part of the U-19 National team that won inaugural 2002 FIFA U-19 World Championship in Canada … A four-year member of the U-19 WNT pool … Started all five games at the CONCACAF Qualifying tournament in Canada, playing every minute while scoring two goals with one assist … Was part of the 2002 CONCACAF Qualifying Tournament in Tobago, where she played in one match and helped the USA qualify … Tore her ACL early in championship game at the 2002 U-19 World Championship, but had started five of the six WC matches to that point … Second on the team with 24 career caps at the U-19 level … Played 17 total games this year, starting 14 … Started nine of 11 internationals … 2003: Did not play with U-19s as she was recovering from another ACL injury, this one to her other knee coming just two weeks after returning to the field after rehabbing her first torn ACL.

High School/Club: Attended Torrey Pines High School … Two-time Parade Magazine All-American (2002, 2003) … Member of the NSCAA U-16 and U-17 Youth All-America teams … Named Torrey Pines’ Defender of the Year (2000) and Player of the Year (2001, 2002) … Captained squad during junior and senior seasons … 2001 and 2002 Palomar League Player of the Year … Earned first-team CIF and All-Palomar League honors (2000, 2001, 2002) … Lettered four times in soccer … Competed for the San Diego Surf Soccer Club for seven years … Named the club’s 2003 Player of the Year.

College: Played in 15 games as a freshman for Stanford, making eight starts as she was recovering from her knee injury … Helped Cardinals defense that never let more than two goals scored against in a single game and claim five shutouts … Registered one assist on the year for her only point.

Personal: Full name is Rachel Marie Buehler … Nicknames are Rach, Buehles, Bue or Ferris … Father Don is a heart surgeon … Has one sister, Anna (14) plays soccer for the Surf … Dad also attended Stanford where he was a wrestler and All-American water polo player … Enjoys going to the beach, Stanford theatre, rocking out to oldies and taking pictures … Her major at Stanford is biology/pre-med … Contemplating becoming a doctor … Likes to snowboard … Considers lady bugs her lucky charm.
