U.S. National Teams: A commanding central defender who is intelligent and confident … Able to make the tough tackle and also get into the attack … Joined U.S. Soccer’s Residency Program in September of 2003 … U.S. Under-17s: Has started an astonishing 82 of the 87 games he’s played, including all 31 of his international appearances …2005: Started all three qualifying games, playing every minute of every game … Helped secure a 3-0 shutout over El Salvador in the first match of qualifying … Tied on the team for the lead with 31 appearances, all starts … Started all 10 of his international appearances this year, leading the defense to a 4-0 shutout in their first match of the year over Haiti on April 3 … Has scored one goal and notched two assists … 2004: Came on a reserve only twice in 43 games, starting in 41 of his appearances … Showed his offensive prowess with four goals and three assists on the year … Three of his goals and one assist came during his 19 appearances for the U.S. during international matches … His 1,630 minutes during international play was second best on the team … Scored only goal in 1-1 draw against Austria on May 1 to propel U.S. into the championship match of the Ballymena International Tournament … Scored opening goal against Canada in a 3-2 victory on July 17 in Blaine, Minn. … Headed home in a 2-0 victory over Australia on Dec. 3 in Bradenton during the Nike Friendlies … 2003: Started 10 of the 13 matches in which he appeared … Played and started in both internationals against Brazil and Argentina … Notched two assists.
