Under-23s: Scored in his U-23 debut, providing the final tally in his 31 minutes off the bench for a 4-0 win over St. Kitts & Nevis in the second game of the two-game second round series of CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying on Nov. 19, 2003 … Collected three more caps, playing in the final round CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying … Made his first U-23 start in a 4-3 win against Honduras on Jan. 7 …

Under-20s: With club commitments with MetroStars he hasn’t been able to play much with U-20s … Has only one cap with the Under-20s, starting against Brazil on June 16 at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale …

Under-17s: One of nine players in the 1987 age group to join the residency program in 2001, where they trained with members of the 2001 Under-17 MNT… One of the team’s most consistent players … Has played in the midfield and as a target player …2003: Played in all four of the USA’s matches in the FIFA U-17 World Championship … The team’s third leading scorer with 15 goals … Also second in assists on the team with 13 … Scored the USA’s only goal in a two-game tour of Costa Rica …  2002: Finished fourth on the team in scoring with 12 goals and eight assists … Tied for third on the team with four international goals and two international assists …

Professional: 2004: Was a MLS Best XI honoree in 2004 … Missed only one game during the year, playing and starting in 29 of 30 games … Had successful hernia surgery at the end of the season … Scored seven goals and seven assists for 21 points, third best on the team in scoring … 2003: At the age of 16 years and 2 months, he became the youngest player ever to sign with MLS when he was the second pick of the second round (12th overall) of the 2003 SuperDraft by the MetroStars … Became the second youngest player in MLS history (16 years, 253 days) and youngest in MetroStars history to score a goal, tallying the game winner against D.C. United in overtime on July 6, 2003 … Played in his first game for the MetroStars on June 14, 2003 against the Chicago Fire, becoming the youngest player in club history and the second youngest player in the league’s history to appear in an MLS regular season game … In that game, Gaven entered as a goalkeeper substitute and was switched to the field in order to remove an injured Mark Lisi, thus Gaven holds the team and league record for youngest goalkeeper in a game ... Finished his rookie season playing in 12 games (seven starts), logging 691 minutes and scoring one goal and one assist for three points ... Also set the MetroStars record for youngest player to earn an assist on 10/5 at San Jose on the game-winning goal by Amado Guevara in a 2-0 win, breaking another record set by Magee.

High School: Worked through high school on an accelerated program and finished his studies in three years.
 
Personal: Born on October 25,1986, in Hamilton, N.J., the same day that the New York Mets won Game Six of the 1986 World Series over the Boston Red Sox when Mookie Wilson's ground ball went through first baseman Bill Buckner's legs allowing Ray Knight to score … Has one sister, Megan (13), and one brother, Jim (18). Lists his mother (Janet) and father (Ed) as his role models. Lists his favorite music as punk. Says his brother, Jim, is his favorite player... Played for Hibernian FC in Mercer County (NJ).
