  Role of the U.S. Soccer National Staff Coach Program (NSC)

The US Soccer National Staff Coach Program (NSC) consists of eight (8) coaches operating throughout the U.S.  There are four NSC's assigned specifically for women's initiatives and four assigned to men's initiatives.

The NSC's function is to provide service in the areas of coaching education and player development to all US Soccer constituents, including State Associations, clubs and leagues.  Their role is to deliver a consistent message to all members. The NSC is responsible for Coaching Education in the United States.  The NSC serves as National Instructors for US Soccer coaching schools; developing curriculum, instructing, teaching, and evaluating coaches seeking to acquire a national coaching license.  Additionally, the NSC is responsible for elite player identification and development at the State and Regional levels.  The NSC works in conjunction with State Associations, Regional ODP programming, and Club teams as well as new programming initiatives to accomplish this goal. 

Primary Responsibilities:
Instruction and execution of National Coaching Schools and State "C" courses

Instruction of State level "D", "E" and Youth Licenses

Curriculum Development

 

Development and management of the National Instructional Staff

Organization of national and regional coaching symposia

Player Development (National Team Network)

 

 Men's NSC’s focus on players from U-14 through U-17 levels, in order to assist with the development of the U-17 MNT

 

 Women's NSC’s focus on players from U-14 through U-17 levels, in order to assist with the development of the U-19 WNT

Attend selected Olympic Development Program (ODP) events

Attend Priority Tournaments

Develop opportunities outside of ODP to connect more players to the ODP/ National Team system

Provide direction and assistance to state organizations in area of coaching education, player development and player identification via ODP and other events
