In Egypt, the U.S. had another tough U-17 Championship, as they only won one game and lost the other two in group play. The U.S. allowed seven goals in three games, giving up four against Oman and three against Brazil. In an effort to make a statement with their last match, the Americans lit up Austria for four goals, while putting in a solid defensive performance, preventing the Austrians from scoring a single goal.
