Des Moines Menace (PDL) 2, Madison Fire (USASA) 1 Home side Des Moines Menace took control of the match from the start, but were frustrated until Charlie Bales set up Vince Cicciarelli  to put the perennial Open Cup participant ahead 1-0 in the 35th minute of play. Des Moines would extend its lead when Bales again provided the help, this time to Ramone Howell to go ahead 2-0 in the 62nd minute. Madison would make the final minutes of the match interesting when Trevor Banks converted a 76th minute penalty kick, but Des Moines held up for the 2-1 victory. With the win, the Menace advance to a Second Round matchup away to Saint Louis FC on May 20.
