Head Coach Tab Ramos will lead the team in its first camp since joining the Under-23 Men’s National Team in Duisberg, Germany, in November, where the team trained for 10 days and played two scrimmages at the Sportschule Wedau.
Six players will return to Ramos’s side from the Germany camp: Sean Cunningham, Luis Gil, Tyrone McCargo, Omar Salgado, Caleb Stanko and Jose Villarreal.
Fourteen of the men play professionally. Cunningham led his team to its first ever Norwegian Premier League championship, Gil, Jack McBean, Salgado and Villarreal play in the MLS, and Villyan Bijev, McCargo and Stanko play in the German Bundesliga. Hector Delgado Cha, Daniel Cuevas Granados, Jesus Guzman, Uvaldo Luna Martinez, Daniel Medina Meza and Juan Pablo Ocegueda all represent the Mexican Primera Division. The roster also features nine current Development Academy players, 17 Academy alumni and 15 college players.
Ramos is preparing the squad for the 2013 FIFA Under-20 World Cup qualifying tournament, which will likely begin in early 2013. The World Cup will be held in Turkey in 2013, and every player on the roster is age-eligible for the competition.
