All 21 players hit the field this morning for a light training session ahead of tomorrow's important match against Uzbekistan. With just a two-day turnaround between games, the priority is getting every one back to 100 percent after spending a lot of energy during Sunday's 3-0 win against Czech Republic.
Today was mostly spent going through some tactics with one group of players while the others played a friendly (read: competitive) game of soccer tennis.
The scenarios for tomorrow: If New Zealand defeats or draws the Czech Republic on Wednesday and the U.S. tops Uzbekistan, the U.S. would be assured a top two finish in the group, and a place in the Round of 16. If Czech Republic beats New Zealand and the U.S. beats Uzbekistan, six points would likely be enough to send the USA to the knockout stage.
