U.S. Soccer Development Academy alum Will Bruin (St. Louis Scott Gallagher Missouri) continues to impress, even though his Houston Dynamo team is in the midst of a four-game winless stretch.
Bruin tallied both Dynamo goals during Houston’s 3-2 loss to D.C. United on Saturday at RFK Stadium. Bruin has four goals and an assist over the past three games.
His first goal, a right-footed finish off of a Jermaine Taylor cross from the left, tied the score at 1-1 in the 50th minute. Bruin was more fortunate on his second goal, as D.C. United’s defense lost the ball outside the box. Bruin was in the right place at the right time and took a deep shot that United goalkeeper Joe Willis looked like he would save. Instead, the ball slipped by and trickled into the goal to tie the score at 2-2 in the 59th minute.
Former Clearwater Chargers and U.S. U-17 Residency Program goalkeeper Zac MacMath saw his Philadelphia Union’s shutout streak come to a close at 407 minutes. After posting three straight shutouts, the team’s franchise-best shutout stint not only ended, but the Union conceded a second goal in second-half stoppage time and fell to the San Jose Earthquakes 2-1 on Saturday at PPL Park.
MacMath made five saves for a second straight match as Philadelphia sits in seventh place in the Eastern Conference.
