New Zealand goalkeeper Jenny Bindon (21), seen making a save in front of U.S. WNT midfielder Carli Lloyd in 2007, has been named to head coach Tony Readings’ roster for a Feb. 11 match in Texas.
New Zealand head coach Tony Readings has named an 18-player roster for its international match against the U.S. Women’s National Team on Feb. 11 at FC Dallas Stadium in Frisco, Texas (3 p.m. CT kickoff).
Readings’ roster incorporates 750 international caps, marking the Ferns’ most experienced squad. Every player is from last year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup roster.
New Zealand is competing for the final 2012 London Olympics spot in Oceania qualifying and will play a two-game playoff against an undetermined opponent in March or April.
The New Zealand roster includes Ali Riley, who played at Stanford and the 2011 WPS champion Western New York Flash, former Duke defender Rebecca Smith and UCLA forward Rosie White.
The USA has a 7-1-0 all-time record against New Zealand, with the only blemish being a 1-0 loss on Dec. 15, 1987. Since that match, the U.S. has won seven straight, outscoring the Ferns by a 34-1 margin.
The last time the U.S. hosted New Zealand was during a 6-1 win on Aug. 12, 2007, in Chicago.
