One of the most important methods of recovery after training is soaking in cold tubs - a topic well covered by the MNT Blog in previous camps. It's not always the most comfortable feeling sitting in super cold water, and definitely not on an evening like tonight in which the temperature hovered in the high 40s. Nonetheless, as we left training tonight, there was San Jose Earthquakes defender Steven Beitashour kneeling alone in the cold tub. He certainly could have skipped it, so why dive in?
"You try to be a good pro," he said. "Tomorrow is a more important day, so you've got to be fresh. It takes the soreness out of your legs, so anything you can do today to get yourself better prepared for tomorrow, you do it."
And how would he describe the feeling?
