On our way to training today, we discovered that our resort is essentially surrounded by, well ... desert. Which, considering that we are a few miles outside of Suez, does make sense. But we didn't realize how remote this resort really was until we rode to training today about 15 minutes away. Once we got outside the complex, there was really nothing but sand and some power lines for miles ...
... then, in the distance, just like the movies ... there it was. American fast food chains. Could it be? Is there really an oasis here? Or is it a mirage?
Yes, it is real. Not in a strip mall or anything. Just two free standing buildings in the middle of the desert. The photo we tried to take from the moving bus turned into a blurry mess, but to get an idea of the kind of scenery we're talking about, below is what most of the drive looked like:
