The U.S. contingent for this game is sporting two of the most famous midfielders in U.S. history in New Jersey natives Tab Ramos and Claudio Reyna, who each have appearances in three World Cups under their belts. They are joined by ’98 World Cup captain Thomas Dooley. The trio was on the field together in two of three matches in France ’98, and both Dooley and Reyna were in the lineup in the USA’s opening game against Germany when their opponent’s insurance goal was scored by a striker by the name of Jurgen Klinsmann. The last time Ramos and Reyna wore the U.S. uniform in the same game came Aug. 16, 2000, in a World Cup qualifier against Barbados. With the U.S. leading, Reyna gave way to Ramos, who went on to score the USA’s fifth goal in a 7-0 win.
