WNT Apr 1, 2011
The U.S. WNT had its stadium training today at Brisbane Road, home to English League 1 side Leyton Orient, where a decent crowd is expected at the 9,000-seat stadium for the USA-England match tomorrow live on ESPN2 at 3 p.m. ET. The stadium at its current location dates back to 1937 but the club itself has been in existence since 1881. Check out ussoccer.com for a short video on the stadium.
The stadium features a unique characteristic in that condominiums have been built in each of the four corners of the stadium. When the club was in some financial difficulty, the land was sold to developers and some folks now have some great seats on their balconies for matches.
In yet another day of temperate weather in London (that is likely to change when the U.S. team heads north to Scotland after the match), the team ran through its usual hour pre-game training and is set to go tomorrow. All 23 players on the roster are healthy and ready for selection, and that includes goalkeeper Hope Solo, who could make her first appearance since last summer following her recovery from major shoulder sugery last September.
