The training photos we showed you earlier are from the training grounds used by Nigerian Premier League club Kano Pillars FC, who we have learned are one of the top teams not only in Nigeria, but in all of Africa. The team was recently knocked out of the African Champions League by fellow Nigerian club Heartland.
Kano Pillars are one of the most popular clubs in a football-mad country, drawing impressive crowds and garnering a lot of national attention. All this in just 19 years, as the club was founded as recently as 1990.
Tonight, the team will train on the game-field used by Kano Pillars, which we'll be borrowing for the duration of the tournament. In fact, the Kano club was granted a request to move one of the semifinal legs from Oct. 17 to Oct. 10 in order to make sure everything would be ship shape for us in Sani Abachi Stadium.
