YNT Dec 6, 2009
The 2009 NCAA Women's Soccer Championship is complete and UNC has won its 20th title, downing previously unbeaten and untied Stanford in the rain and cold at Texas A&M. For the winners, and even better for the not quite winners, it's time to shift focus from club to country. The rosters for both squads were dotted with former and current U.S. Youth National Team players and numerous participants in the College Cup will be heading to national team action over the next month. Casey Nogueira from UNC, Kelley O'Hara from Stanford and Lauren Cheney from UCLA will be heading to the full National Team camp that's already underway at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Defender Alicia Jenkins (Stanford), Lauren Wilmoth (UCLA) and forward Christen Press (Stanford) are all called up to the U.S. U-23 WNT camp starting on Dec. 13 at The HDC while several players from the final four are sure to be in camp with the U.S. U-20s next week in Florida, although that roster has yet to be 100% confirmed.
