Sun, palm trees, and the beep test. What soccer player would
want to be anywhere else?
The Beep Test is over and done with for this training camp and with that mental and physical hurdle behind them, the players will now turn their focus to performing on the field with the ball. The test that the players did this morning is officially called the Yo-Yo Intermittent Endurance Test - Level 2 (Level 2 because these are elite athletes who start out at a higher level) and the top marks were posted by Tina DiMartino, Heather Mitts and Heather O'Reilly, a trio who are regularly in the top percentile in this sort of fitness test on the WNT. Special kudos to the more solidly built Rachel Buehler, who also busted in the test, inspirationally gutting out a few more levels to finish first in her group as her teammates urged her on. More kudos to Cat Whitehill and Ashlyn Harris, the last two players to arrive in camp after having to overnight in Phoenix due to travel snafus, who ran the test despite stepping off the plane just a few hours earlier. The team also did some light finishing on a beautiful day in Los Angeles, but the real work begins tomorrow with a late morning practice.
Make sure you touch the line -- BEEP!
