For a second straight week, a former U.S. Soccer Development Academy player earned MLS Player of the Week accolades. Former New York Red Bulls Academy forward Juan Agudelo of Chivas USA took the honor after recording a goal and an assist in Chivas USA’s dominant 4-1 road victory against the Chicago Fire. Agudelo’s player of the week recognition comes one week after former D.C. United Academy goalkeeper Bill Hamid was awarded.
Former Crew Soccer Academy player Ben Speas scored the game-winning goal, his first tally in MLS, as Columbus beat Hamid and D.C. United 2-1. It was Speas' fourth professional start.
FC Dallas Academy alum London Woodberry also made his MLS debut. The defender logged a minute during FCD’s 2-1 win against Real Salt Lake, replacing Jair Benitez in the final stages of the match.
