The second semifinal tonight pits Panama against Mexico, a rematch of the first game of the group phase. In that, two goals from Manuel Torres paced the Panamanians to a 2-1 win and led to a first-place finish in Group A.
The Mexicans have rebounded since, winning three straight, and advanced to the final four following a 1-0 win against Trinidad & Tobago.
Buoyed by the addition of FC Dallas striker Blas Peres, the Marea Roja crunched Cuba 6-1 in the quarters. Panama has experience facing the same opponent twice in a tournament. In the 2011 edition, they became the first team in history to defeat the United States in a group game. The teams met again in the semifinal, where a goal from Clint Dempsey delivered the USA a 1-0 win.
