Week of May 29

As we get closer to the World Cup, we’re getting the chance to see a number of warm-up international games. If this isn’t getting you pumped for June 9, well, we don’t want ‘cha here. Between seeing Argentina, England, Holland and segments devoted to soccer on ABC, it’s doesn’t get better than this…well, until the actual World Cup, of course.

Tuesday, May 30
Argentina vs. Angola
Gol TV, 3 p.m. ET
Why: Two World Cup finalists meet in a warm-up match before their first matches. While it probably won’t be an all out fight (injuries!), it’s still a good preview of what to expect starting June 9. (FYI – This game is being replayed on Sunday, June 4 on Telemundo at 1 p.m. ET)

England vs. Hungary
Fox Soccer Channel, 3 p.m. ET
Why: All right, so we really going to be flipping to this from Argentina-Angola (or maybe we’ll just Tivo it and watch it later), but we definitely want to see how our rivals across the pond will go on without the injured Rooney.

Thursday, June 1
Mexico vs. Holland
Telemundo, 2 p.m. ET
Why: Well, first because we want to see Mexico lose. But, second, because how often do we get to see the Orange play, especially someone we know well.

Saturday, June 3
England vs. Jamaica
Fox Soccer Channel, 9 a.m. ET
Why: English fans are always saying how CONCACAF qualifying is so easy. Wonder how they’ll like getting kicked (literally) by the Jamaicans.

American Soccer’s Ten Greatest Moments
ABC, 3 p.m. ET
Why: We have our Top Ten and we’re sure you have yours. Curious to see what ABC has in store.

Spain vs. Egypt
Gol TV, 4 p.m. ET
Why: Spain is always named a “dark horse” to win the World Cup. We want to see if that label befits them this time around.

Sunday, June 4
Argentina vs. Angola
Telemundo, 1 p.m. ET
Why: See above, replacing "Spain" with "Argentina"

World Cup Soccer – The Drive to Germany
ABC, 2:30 p.m. ET
Why: We’re getting geared up for the World Cup. You’re getting geared up for the World Cup. And now, ABC is getting geared up for the World Cup. ‘Nuff said.
