U.S. Referees Assigned to Inaugural CONCACAF Giants Cup Matches

CHICAGO (Thursday, March 22, 2001) - Six U.S. Soccer referees have been assigned by CONCACAF to officiate in two upcoming Giants Cup matches scheduled for April 11 in Washington, D.C. and Columbus, Ohio. When D.C. United and Arnett Gardens of Jamaica meet in the second leg of their series at RFK Stadium, Craig Lowry (Pennsylvania) and Jon Wilson (North Carolina) will serve as assistant referees, while Michael Kennedy (Illinois) will serve as the fourth official. That match will see Mexican official Armando Archundia calling the match from the field. On the same night in Ohio, Greg Barkey (New Jersey) and Nathan Clement (Delaware) will serve as assistant referees when the Columbus Crew host CD Saprissa (Costa Rica) in the second leg of their series. Kevin Terry (Texas) will serve as the fourth official to Jose Farias of Canada.
