Captain Comeback: Claudio Reyna Makes Second Straight Club Start After Ankle Surgery

U.S. MNT fans will be thrilled to see that Claudio Reyna made his second straight start for Manchester City today, going 69 minutes in the Blues 1-0 loss to Portsmouth. Reyna made his return to the lineup last week after being sidelined since Dec. 28 with a fractured ankle.

Reyna last appeared for the U.S. Men’s National Team on Sept. 3, 2005, when the U.S. defeated Mexico, 2-0, in Columbus, Ohio, clinching the USA’s fifth straight trip to the World Cup Finals.

Bruce Arena and the MNT take the field next in Germany on March 22, as they face the 2006 World Cup hosts in Dortmund. Kickoff for the match is scheduled for 2:25 p.m. ET (live on ESPN2), and fans can also follow along live via ussoccer.com’s MatchTracker.
