The U.S. opened the scoring on a Wildcats' own goal in just the 7th minute after a defender headed in an Albright cross. Just five minutes later, Casey kocked in the rebound of his original shot to put the U.S. up 2-0.
"I thought we played well, but the cold affected us a little bit," said Casey, who led the NCAA Division I ranks in scoring last year (23 goals, 7 assists) and leads the U-23's in scoring with six goals and two assists in seven overall matches in 2000. "It was a good start for us here in Hershey."
In the second half, substitutes Donovan and Wolff struck for the other two goals. Donovan finished a Wolff cross in the 58th minute, while Wolff took a pass from defender Ramiro Corrales, dribbled around a defender and the goalkeeper and walked it over the goal line in the 67th minute to put the finishing touches on the game.
Midfielder DaMarcus Beasley and John O'Brien were the only U-23's that did not appear in the match. Not only was the game the team's third scrimmage in seven days, it was the third scrimmage they have played in the rain or slippery conditions.
The next time the U-23's take the field in organized competition will be Friday (April 21) night versus Honduras in the second game of a doubleheader that kicks off the CONCACAF 2000 Olympic Qualifying Tournament. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. (ET).
