U.S. U-17 MNT Advances to Final of Copa Macae in Brazil

MACAE, Brazil (July 25, 2009) -- The U.S Under-17 Men's National Team advanced to the final of the Copa Macae in Brazil with a 3-0 semifinal win against Fluminese. Luis Gil opened the scoring for the U.S. in the 21st minute, and Jack McInerney's 32nd penalty conversion gave the team a 2-0 halftime lead. Victor Chavez rounded out the scoring in the 79th minute to make it a 3-0 final. Earl Edwards was in goal to earn the shutout for the Americans.

The U.S. will take on Funorte in the final of the Copa Macae on July 26.
