U.S. U-20 MNT Hold First Camp of 2006

CHICAGO (March 7, 2006) - U.S. Under-20 Head Coach Thomas Rongen named 23 players to his initial camp of 2006, which will take place from March 7-13 in Sunrise, Fla. All the players selected were born after Jan. 1, 1987, as the team begins preparations to qualify for the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Rongen, who was just named head coach this week, invited in mainly college players, with Josmer Altidore (MetroStars) being the only professional player on the roster.

Out of the 23 players, eight are still in high school, including four players that are currently in U.S. Soccer’s U-17 Residency Program – Altidore, Jeremy Hall, Eric Lichaj and Anthony Wallace. Sixteen players were born in 1987, four in 1988 and three in 1989.

The team has two games scheduled during the week.
